About MaibongMaibong, also spelt as Maibang, is a small town located in the Dima Hasao district of Assam. The town is dotted by hills and natural beauty on all sides. The district regional headquarters are located here. The eastern side is flanked by the remnants of the old city of Maibong and the River Mahur runs through it.
History of MaibongMaibong was the capital of the Kachari rulers from 16th to 18th century. The ancient ruins of the kingdom can still be seen in the eastern and southern side of Maibong. There were blocks on all sides of the city, and carvings and sculptures of the kingdom can still be seen preserved in the museum in Haflong.
